FTP All Day

One day while I was minding my own business skating a little grass gap and a ten stair, a cop shows up with his shiny new cop car. Unfortunately I didn't see him until i was at the top of the stairs haulin' balls. My first reaction was to kick my board away but when i did that it put a nice 6-8 inch crack in his winshield. It was all done after that. He had some power trip episode and tackled me and shoved my face on the ground. I was cuffed and stuffed man... for 24 hours! A day later and a nice 300 dollar fine later i was back on the streets. F T P!!!

Nothin better to do cop

So I see this dude skatin all over town doing mad tricks on anything not nailed down. This cop sees him and every time he does, he warns him about "skateboard laws" and "helmet laws" (lol) and that he can issue him a summons. The dude gets a warning and goes back to boarding. The same cop sees him again and yells at him and says he's gonna tell his parents next time he catches him (lol). Like 2 weeks later, the dude gets hit by a bus and is killed instantly when the wheels run over his head. The same big muscle bound cop that warned him is the one who goes to the scene where the kid is dead and now he's crying like a baby when he sees the dead kid. Couple months go by and the cop finds out the parents of the dead dude are suing him and the police dept cause the cop failed to "enforce laws which could have prevented the man's death" (lol). The cop had to hire a lawyer for big $$$$ and may lose his house. My dad, the cop, retired earlier than he planned. All cops suck, right?

Backpack

This disn't happen to me it happened to my bud. The skate park we were skating at just closed except he just realized that his back pack was still in there. the gate was locked so he tried jumping the fence but some cop came up to him, made him put the back pack down so he could come with him, they did some check or something and the back pack got stolen. Even when my bud tried to explain the cop just laughed and went "That'll teach you for trying to break and enter".

Cop on crack, I swear

Me and my Boyfriend Seth and his friend Cole were boarding in a car dealership parking lot.The manager was a pretty cool Braw and asked us to leave nicely and gave us a mint(?)We skated to the exit and then kicked our boards up and started just riding real slow along the sidewalk. When we came close to a person we would hop off, hold our boards and walk past nicely. We were just leaving the lot when a cop car pulls up and some skinny lil' hyper cop jumps out and tells us to get our asses over there.Real quick we laid down our boards and skated over to him.Cole started slaloming down the street, and the cop couldn't decide whether to get us or him.Lucky us, he chose us.The dope patted us down for weapons and made us sit on the curb with our hands on our heads.Me and Seth freaked when we saw he had a taser, and whne he turned to get some paper we leaped up and ran a few feet then skated really fast.He tripped and couldn't catch us, and we met up with Cole and laughed like hell about it

Cops with nothing better to do

Me and three friends go to this skatepark super close to our town but only kids from that town are aloud to skate there. So about half an hour later they kick us out and take our names and ages down. So we hang out near the park but not at it. Later we sit down at a bench in front of the park and the cops come again so we make a run for it. Sadly they chase us and catch us and my friend gets a $300 ticket.

Youtube

At first I was afraid to become a skater cuz of all the police vs. skater type videos on Youtube. The police usually get all agresive and either end up hurting one of the skaters, or a skater gets arrested. Then again, the skater is most often on a No Skating zone or on private property. Then I realized not to be afraid cuz there aren't good cops in Mesquite.

Scared to death

The other day, me and my buddy had seen this awesome little ramp thing, and we snuck in through the fence (it was fenced off).We where doing our thing when we hear "Boys, get over here". We turned around and there was this cop with a mega phone. He was pretty cool though. He just told us not to skate there and let us go.

Lunatic Cop

I'd say 99% of the time the cop is respectful. But all it takes is that one bad cop. When my kids where much younger, I was at a public park, I walked passed roller bladers and parents with their kids on tricycles. Suddenly I’m confronted by a nutcase with a gun & badge. He yelled at me & my two kids to leave, they where just rolling at my side. So when I asked where the no skateboarding signs where, he yelled in my face “your punk ass kids will amount to nothing, get your ass out of the park, shut your mouth”, he had a yell for everything I said. I soon realized if I didn’t shut my mouth he would enjoy hauling us all to jail! There have been a few more bad cops over the years, but I realized that day, we have to stand there while spit is flying and take it and that really really sucks.

burned hands at 12

A group of us were skating around town mid-summer in the san fernando valley (read - HOT) when the cops stopped us. We were 12. They ordered us to place our hands on the hood and "spread em." We complied. The hood must have been at least 120 degrees. I put my hands down and immediately brought them up a few inches so I didn't get burned. The cop screamed at me, "Get you F-in Hands on the hood NOW." I explained it was really hot. "I don't give a S-it, get em on there." I did, for about two minutes. When they had their way with us (which included a rather blatent swipe of my privates) my hands had blistered from the heat. I guess I understand, 12 year olds really are scary to a beefed out, steroid filled cop. I mean, we might have bitten his ankles or something. And he clearly had to search us, who knows where we were hiding our skateboards. It was a wonderful lesson in who to trust, and the cops clearly are not one of them.

Stupid school cops

I was in 10th grade going out to go skate during lunch with a friend. I just got the board for my birthday and I was psyched to have a fun session before my next class. I got my board taken by a security guard a week before, though I got it back after school, but I was accused of running over a teacher. I never knew of a goody-two-shoe skateboarder with 5 years of experience could do such a thing. Well, as we were going outside, the SAME EXACT security guard was near the door and came up to me. At this point I wanted to urinate in my pants and told him we were going OFF of school grounds. He didn't care, and grabbed my board. I didn't let go, and then a minute into the "tug-of-war", he said to me, "You wanna get hurt?!" I told him to hurt me so that I could attempt to beat him up. Then I eventually gave him the board, went to the office, and reported him. He lied, saying he didn't want me to get hurt. I believe that as much as I believe I have HIV. 3 years later, I STILL hate him. S4L!

We CAN all just get along!

As usual, Steve gives excellent and level-headed advice. I would like to add an observation about what police harrasment is: First, the attitude that the cops approach you with will probably seem un-called for as much as half the time, but it is understandable because experience with skaters that DO act like punks is probably in their history by the time you meet up with them. It's not harrassment if you are skating on private property and they ask you to leave. New pavement and curbing is something we all lust after, but someone with some political clout just paid an arm and a leg to lay it down, and they sure don't want to see it marked-up and chipped away at before it even cures. An axle-grind or power-slide on two-or three day old concrete can do damage. It takes months to cure to it's hardest. My solution is to be really careful to skate in public designated venues. If your town has none, call the City Manager's office and request it. Follow-up!

Skate Hating Cop

Me and my friend were out skating some of our regular spots when all of a sudden a cop showed up telling us we could not skate here anymore, we took our boards and walked away about 200 meters up the street to my friends parking lot. We both learned to skate there so we liked the place alot... And what do you know the same cop appears and tells us not to skate here either, we were really mad now and told him that we had skated here for years, he bacame mad at us and... you figure out the rest.

Took my board!

So I was skating at night in this big parking lot. It was new, so it was nice and flat and there weren't many rocks or anything. I was cruising around, doing stuff, and a cop came by and took my board! He said it was private property. I had to go to the police station to get it back, but then they did give it back.
