Personal "Ghetto" Street Park

Reader Stories: Making Skateboard Ramps, Rails and Other Obstacles

From Tyler Cutts

Type of obstacle (ramp, rail, funbox, etc)

Multiple (personal "ghetto" street park)

Time spent making the obstacle:

Not Long- It took some brainstorming and resourcefulness.

List of supplies:

Metal sheet, cinderblock (s), plywood, etc.

How I built it:

Well, first I built a mini flow ramp with a cinderblock and a metal sheet. I pur the sheet on the blocks and used them as a fulcrum. For another ramp, I used the cinderblocks as a base, and positioned plywood and made a mini funbox. Or, I just used cinderblocks to practice stalls and low railslides.

What I'd do differently

  • I would've definitely used more of my time to make the obstacles safer. With that mini flow ramp, the slope was always changing, because it wasn't stable using the cinderblocks as fulcrums. I fell a great many times.
