Trick Tips with Willy Santos Video Review

Trick Tips with Willy Santos (by Transworld Skateboarding) teaches the viewer 20 intermediate skateboarding tricks. The tricks are important to learn, and while some of Willy Santos' instructions might be valuable, it's tough to get past the slow, boring sound of his voice as he explains them. Plus, the tricks are covered extremely fast, without any depth. In short, I wouldn't recommend buying this instructional skateboarding video. However, if you want help learning these intermediate tricks, this might be one of the only places to get it.

Each trick is taken one at a time, and starts off with a picture of a skateboard with a pair of shoes on it, to show you where your feet should be. That part is helpful.

Unfortunately, Willy Santos is just not a charismatic reader. And that's what you hear through each trick - Willy Santos reading a script about how to do each trick. It's boring.

On the screen, you'll see Willy Santos perform each trick from various angles, in various places. Sometimes, you'll see a trick in slow motion. The production value isn't very high, and you'd think that a company like Transworld could do better...

It should be clear so far that I wasn't very impressed with Trick Tips with Willy Santos. In fact, I think it's terrible.

However, there are a couple of reasons you might want to buy this instructional skateboarding DVD. The first is that a lot of these tricks aren't covered in other skateboarding videos. Most of the other videos out there that I've seen only cover the basics. If you are an intermediate skateboarder, then you might learn something from this video. And, the short instructions might be OK, if you already know a lot.

Another bonus is that you can often get this DVD in a two-for-one deal with Starting Point. If you can get them together, and cheap enough, then this might be a good video to have as a reference in your library, just to check when you are having trouble.

But only if it's very cheap.

For everyone else, I wouldn't recommend Trick Tips with Willy Santos at all.
