Osiris - Subject To Change, the much anticipated and long awaited video from Osiris, pulls out all the stops. Documenting skills and spots in locations including South Africa, New Zealand, Europe, Canada, and numerous cities across the U.S. plus skating with Jerry Hsu, Ali Boulala, James Brockman, Diego Bucchieri, Kanten Russel, Louie Barletta, Brandon Turner, Chris Dobstaff, Dylan Reider and PLG make this a great skateboarding video.
As soon as the first frames light up you feel a nice vibe with the mellow instrumental music playing. It's nice to see some of the quality spots they skate that set them apart from so many other videos that all share the same areas.
James Brockman starts it all off. He's a good skater and his part starts out with just a couple bails. The music playing during his part is "I want a lot now" by the Murder City Devils. You see a lot of hand rail skating by Brockman. As you'll notice in his part, Brockman is a great skater, nailing insane things like a 17 stair over crook. Ali Boulala is next up after Brockman. Those of you who know his skating will notice that it's a little different here than what you saw on the Sorry video, which is nice to see. He starts his part off on a moped and you see that moped pulling him around to get leverage a couple times in this flick. I also can't help but to mention his hat and the switch ollie down a 16 stair he ends his part with!
Dylan Reiders comes up next. I really like watching his part over all the other ones because he has an awesome song and he shares a part with Butcher. I didn't know Dylan Rieder before this, but there's something about the way he skates that makes me want to watch him again and again. Dylan and the Butcher skate to a song called "Halfway to Sanity" by the Ramones. Diego Buchierri (The Butcher) is a guy that has no remorse when he skates. He is a very fast skater. He's a go big or go home type of guy. His footage is pretty gnarly. He reminds me of Alex "Trainwreck" Gall. Next of the list, PLG! He's mostly all vert and very good at it. It's a nice change to have someone come in and show the kind of flow that Peirre shows. Kanten Russell is a great gap skater and throws down a bunch of hammers in this video. He comes up after PLG and he goes big right off the bat and snaps his board. He has a great part, but a lot of 180 ollies over and over again.
Next, you get Chris Dobstaff. You can expect to see a very technical skater when you watch Dobstaff. He might be someone you compare to Rodney Mullen. He likes to flip, that's the general idea of his part. We go now to the peak of the video, Jerry HSU and Louie Barletta. Their part looks really fun and it's because you see back foot flips and hand plants on a few occasions. Thats just to name a few of the cool things you see. They just skate like they really love skateboarding. I loved their part, and I think it shows what skateboarding is all about. After their part is done we just have skating by everybody and then the credits.
So overall "Subject to Change" is an excellent DVD. I believe it's worth buying; the skating is awesome. This video has a ton of variety in it. I think any fan of skateboarding can relate to this video. The music is above average as well. I'd say the thing I liked most about Subject to change was the different locations they skated. Osiris made a great video with Subject to Change, so thanks Osiris!
