I think I can safely say that this is my favorite skate video ever. After watching the last Habitat video I knew I had to get this one and sure enough I landed a copy of the promotional DVD and have watched it about 100 times. This video was made differently than most skate videos. It has such an artistic feel to it, it's really quite extraordinary.
Danny Renaud had the first part of the video. He skated along to the music "Crawshay" by Cymande. Renaud has a very smooth flowing part and it matches his music very well. Brian Wenning and Tim O'Connor share a section next. I don't think you could pick a better duo in skateboarding to share a part. Let me start off by saying Tim O'Connor is my favorite skater and also I'm a big fan of Wenning. The two of them skate to "Ghost Writer" by RJD2. Connor is a great skater and can ollie about as high as anyone. You see a couple nice manuals from the two of them as well as a couple lengthy runs that are nice. Up next is Fred Gall. He has one of my favorite parts in this video. You'll see a bunch of different things from Gall, but you also may get tired of seeing all of the wall rides he does. The Chocolate Watchband "Loose Lip Sync Ship" is Rob Pluhowski's song. His part is noticeably short but it's sweet. He pulls out a style you don't see from many other skateboarder and does some nice lengthy runs. Ed Selego's section seems really short as well. He starts it off with a lot of rails and ledges. He does a sick 20 stair ledge as well. Kerry Getz kicks it off next and skates to a catchy song by Count Five. He does a really long kick flip manual that you have to see to believe. His part has some length to it compared to the previous two.
The Alien Workshop section of the flick comes in very artistically and it has a very smooth transition. By now you can already tell this is one of the best skate videos ever. Opening up for AWS is Anthony Van Engelen, Danny Way, and Ted De Gros. Afterwards Heath Kirchart & Steve Berra share a scene and you get to see sick handrail skating. Heath Kirchart has the best song in the video - "If I think", by Mudhoney. His part in the video is memorable because of the energy he has and the way his skating goes with the music. Jason Dill's part after Kirchart and Berra is really funny. Some guy telling a story about his brother hitting him in the face and whatnot. Jason Dill starts off doing some tricks on a little board, then makes the transition to the modern skateboard and begins to tear up some long lines. I really enjoy Dill's parts in this video; his style is very intriguing. You have to check it out if you have never seen him skate. Last but not least, Anthony Pappalardo closes off the Alien Workshop portion. He kicks it off with a sick little line and then continues on to do a majority of stair and ledge skating. After Alien Workshop closes it down, Western Expansion brings it back with Stefan Janoski. He starts off with a big grass gap and an even bigger stair gap. The easiest way to sum up Stefan's skating is to say wow. I have a hard time finding a part in the video as exciting as Stefan's. Danny Garcia takes the curtains, and it is well deserved at that. He has some very nice manuals as well as some decent sized lines.
Overall, Habitat's Mosaic is a piece of art and the title fits perfectly. This is hands down the best skateboarding video I've ever seen, and it's almost hard to review it. This video has gone into the history books as one of the best skateboarding videos to date, and I can see why.
