Wait for the Blackout - Blacklabel Video Review

Blackout Vid
This video is amazing from start to finish. Right off the start they mix it up with a star in the making, Anthony "Ragdoll" Scalamere. Ragdoll has probably the most bizarre video parts in the whole industry. Ragdoll is not afraid to show his bad side while skating. When I say that I mean sick bails, mistakes and a bulk load of good old frustration. Ragdoll is defiantly turning into a fan favorite for his style.
Before buying the Wait for the Blackout video I thought of BlackLabel as a bunch of punks that couldn't skate. After watching Wait for the Blackout my opinion changed very quickly. Each and every BlackLabel skater is very talented, and very different from each of the others. It's simply amazing to watch the difference of the skaters from part to part in this film. Ragdoll with his awesome wall rides and street film, Duane Peters airing in pools, Jason Adams wall riding to board sliding a 10 stair hub, and then Omar Hassan with a ton of clips riding bowls. The bails on the other hand are pretty wicked. There aren't any very serious injuries, but there are some hard spills! If you enjoy seeing the bails then you cant go wrong with that alone in this video. As far as my favorite part in this video it is very hard to say. Ragdoll had a very cool part, but Duane Peters simply did amazing in the pools. As soon as I seen him I thought "This dude looks to old to be skating", but I was wrong by far! He has a excellent part, and he is a impressive skater.
The bonus features are pretty cool as well. You can watch all of the Wait for the Blackout Blacklabel video Commercials, as well as music videos featuring Duane Peters and The Hunns, The Stitches, and The Crowd. Tradeshow demo trailer and some more…

Features

  • BlackLabel film expert Grant Shubert teams up with editors John Lucrero and Patrick Nagy to ensure perfection.
  • Music featuring Metallica, The Saints, Aerosmith, The Subhumans, Ted Nugent, The Hunns, The Breifs and more!
  • Extra bonus features include the Wait for the Blacklabel Blackout Commercials, Music Videos, Tradeshow demo trailer and more.

Pros

  • Great filming, very unique skating, funny parts, good bails.
  • The DVD has really cool bonus features.
  • Gets right to the action, Fast paced, A very classy intro.

Cons

  • Repeated scenes. They recap the best tricks a few times. Its a good feature to have if you like seeing the most gnarly tricks a couple times.
The bottom line is, I didn't expect this video to be this good. It's so different, yet so original. Originality wise I would compare this video to a film from Zero. They aren't afraid to show bails and most of the riding and tricks are very original. A lot of wall rides and simple looking, yet very difficult tricks. They also tend to go big as well. If you haven't watched a BlackLabel video, then this is the one to watch. If you have seen a BlackLabel video, but were disappointed, Wait for the Blackout will most likely cheer you up. If you got the extra cash, be sure to check out this video!
