Sometimes you'll want to ollie up and over the edge of a larger ramp - like I explained on the last page, it all has to do with what direction you shift your weight. Practice on smaller ramps and get the hang of it before you try big ramps.
Wearing helmets and pads can be a good idea in any kind of skating, but on big vert ramps it is REALLY important. You can get really high in the air, and falling from a height like that can knock you out of skateboarding for a long time. No one wants that - so wear your knee pads, elbow pads and helmet, and stay safe. Even the pro vert skaters wear pads and helmets!
What Next?
Once you have your vert ollie down, you can do all kinds of tricks with it. 180s are a great place to start, and you can even pull off 360s and more. Make sure you build your pace up slowly. Take your time, and have fun with it!Grabs are also a great way to spice up your vert ollies. The Indy grab is the perfect grab to start with - check out these step-by-step instructions on how to Indy.
