Ollie 180 - landing and riding off

If you've gotten everything else right up to this point, but don't get the landing down, you could end up eating some pavement, or whacking the back of your head pretty hard (wear a helmet!). If you've ever played a skateboarding video game, then you've probably seen what happens if you try a trick in the air and then don't land with your board straight. Ouch.

So, here's how to avoid donating blood. As you spin, stay aware of the direction that you are going, and your goal is to slap down that board when you are straight again. Bend your knees and really let them absorb the shock of landing, stay loose, and you should be able to ride away just fine.

You will, of course, be riding fakie now (riding backwards). No big deal. Enjoy it!

If you are having a hard time landing straight, the best thing you can do is practice. A lot. Which might mean you need to fall a lot, but don't worry, that's normal. Try to keep your weight centered over the board. Stay over the board. Make sure both feet are involved in the spin. You should do just fine!
