Nose Stall - the Approach

Pick out an obstacle that you want to nose stall onto. It can be something as low as a curb, or something a lot taller - it all depends on how high you can ollie. You are going to try and ollie up and plant the nose of your skateboard on the ledge of the obstacle, so make sure you pick something that's not too high for your ollie.

You can also nose stall by simply riding up a ramp and rocking onto the nose of your skateboard, there on the edge of the coping. For more help with nose stalls on ramps, read through these instructions to get an idea of what we're talking about, and the last page focuses on ramp nose stalls.

A lot of guys like to start learning to nose stall with curbs. This can be a great way to start out, but I encourage you to work up soon to obstacles that you actually have to ollie up to (unless you have especially tall curbs in your area of the world).

So, you have your obstacle picked out now, right? It could be the curb, some stacked planks of wood, a fun box ... there are lots of things. Now, for the approach. You want to ride towards the obstacle with a moderate amount of speed. Not too fast, but you need to be going fast enough to actually get there. You want your feet in the ollie position (with your back foot across the tail of your board, and your front foot on or behind the front trucks). Then, when you get to the obstacle...
