- WEAR GLOVESI can not stress this enough. I learned it hard the first time when my hand came up scraped, bloodied, and in a lot of pain. You must also take care of which kind of gloves you use. Cotton or wool gloves would probably be the worst choice, and they grip the pavement easily. Leather would be good, but it scratches easily. The best choice would be either snowboarding gloves, or work gloves (which can be found a places like Home Depo). Those are good because the material doesn't let them snag on the imperfections on the concrete. Tape could also be used, but its a real pain getting the adhesive off when you're done.
- Speed You're gonna need a decent amount of speed when you do a Bert Slide, otherwise, you won't get the spin you intended.
- Practice I was able to nail this pretty well in a few days. It just takes practice. Keep at it and you can get it smoother and smoother than each time before.
- First you're gonna need some speed.
- Once you've got that, grab your board with one of your hands (usually for an inside Bert slide, Goofies like me use the right hand to grab the board, and the left to grab the concrete.)
- Once you've grabbed your board, put your hand on the ground, and try to keep it controlled as you spin. Don't be afraid to fall off, or have the board smack you. That's all in learning.
- After you've lost all of your kinetic energy (sorry, nerd talk for stop moving), you are done.
