360 Ollie Landing and Practice

Landing your 360 ollie is a tricky business, and it usually costs a fair amount of skin and blood to figure it out. Don't be afraid to pay the cost - if you've come this far on your skateboard, then you should be used to some pain. Endure it. This pain is the gauntlet you must pass through in order to become great.

But, you probably want to cut out any injury that you don't really need, and I'm here to help you with that! On landing, bend your knees! You've probably been told to do that with all of your tricks, and it's important, but with a trick like this, off of a ramp and spinning in the air, bending your knees is VERY important! If you bend your knees and land crooked, then you will roll on the ground and be more or less ok (wear a helmet). If you bend your knees and land right, you will ride off and look like a stud (or studdette).

One other thing - make sure to land, as much as you can, with all four wheels hitting the ground together. This is the best way to maintain control. If you can't, then try to land with the back wheels first, not the front.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how to Backside and Frontside 360 Ollie. Practice a lot, all the time, and you will get it down. Don't freak out when it doesn't work right away - no one learns to 360 ollie right away. OK, so maybe someone somewhere says he has, but we all know that guy makes stuff up. Tricks like this take time to learn. Invest the time and energy, and you'll get a huge payoff. You'll be able to skate along, ollie off a curb and spin a sick 360, land and roll away. Everyone will wish they were you.

But seriously, take your time, relax, and enjoy learning to 360 ollie. If you have problems, you can visit the Skateboarding Forum and ask for help, or e-mail me!
