The Bottom Line
Sk8nuts hardware replaces the regular nuts used to hold your trucks to your board - each Sk8nut takes the place of two regular locknuts. The Sk8nut makes it possible to insert and remove the screws with one hand, and without having to use two tools, making working on your board easier. In addition, Sk8nuts screws are built with a thread locking technology that keeps the screws from slipping. The screws are available with Phillips or hex heads, and can be bought with traditional lock-nuts.
Pros
- Sk8nuts allow you to install and uninstall hardware with one hand, and one tool
- Thread locking screws hold in place rediculoulsy well
Cons
- If you aren't careful, you can strip the Phillips head screws. The hex head screws should be fine.

Guide Review - Sk8nuts Hardware
To be honest, my first experience with Sk8nuts was fairly negative. The actual nuts worked great, but I stripped the screws the first time I installed them. The screws have a strip of URTL material inserted in the middle of the screw that provides a weird "spring-like welding pressure", keeping the screw securely in place. The screws do keep in place, but are super hard to screw in. When installing mine I used a lot of force - bad idea! Sk8nuts need to be installed slowly and carefully to make sure the screws aren't stripped. And if you do manage to strip the screws completely, you won't be able to remove them. The bonus to having regular nuts is the ability to go from either direction if one goes bad - if your screw heads get stripped, you can turn the nuts, and vice versa.
While this can be a problem, it shouldn't be if you are careful with your screws and nuts. Sk8nuts has in fact changed their screws that come with Sk8nuts to half-threads with a smaller head, which makes this even less of a problem. And if you are still concerned, then try the hex headed screws, like Europe.
Once installed, Sk8nuts screws hold in place ridiculously well. No amount of vibration should loosen them. And if the Sk8nut isn't your style, the special URTL screws can also be bought in packs with traditional lock-nuts.
I recommend Sk8nuts - give 'em a shot and see what you think. Remember to be careful installing the screws, and they should be the strongest hardware you've used.
