Premier SR Ready

Making our own ramp

Premier has a huge selection of snowskates, and as the company that first came up with the idea, they know a little about making them well. In this review we take a look at the Premier Warrior Series snowskates. With the look and strength of plastic, and a price that won't kill you outright, you can take these snowskates anywhere. The Premier Warrior Series snowskates are the perfect size for most riders, and a lot of fun anyplace you have snow.

First Impressions

The Premier Warrior series snowdecks are the perfect size for most riders. The board is covered with black EVA to help stick to your shoes, and the extreme curve of the nose and tail help the snowskate to slide through and over almost anything. It's a little big for flip tricks, but the perfect size for slides if you have a good run up to your edge.

When I first saw the Premier Viking snowskate from the Warrior snowskate series I thought it looked a bit ridiculous. The snowskate looks and feels like it is one solid chunk of plastic, and the nose and tail of the board are turned up almost vertical. But after tying it out, I discovered how easy it was to ride. The Premier Warrior series snowskates are the perfect choice for someone who hasn't used a snowskate very much, or who simply wants to have a good time without spending too much money.

Performance

Premier Viking Angle
Like I said, the size of the board does make it hard to do kickflips and the like, but shuvits are a little easier. The extreme curve of the nose and tail make manuals almost easy, and the board doesn't get buried very easily in powder.

However, powder did give us a little bit of a different problem. Premier snowskates might need a little bit of wax if used on powder - they have a textured bottom that will hold wax well, but didn't want to slide on powder. When we tried out the boards in wetter snow, they worked perfectly. Either way, if you want a faster ride you should try waxing your Premier snowskates.

In all, I would say the Premier Warrior series snowskates perform at just the right level for the average casual snowskater. Getting a higher end Premier Pro Wood snowskate would be a waste unless you're planning to spend a lot of time practicing, or unless you think you are already an amazing snowskater.

Design

The Premier Warrior Series snowskates come in three different styles, all with the same basic specifications:

  • 36" long
  • Solid one-piece design
  • Strong concave 45 degree pop in nose and tail
  • Injected Nylon with Glass Fill
  • Die Cut Black 5# EVA Footpad
The three styles include Viking, a bright yellow board with the image of a buff, brutal Viking at the board center, Ninja, a blood red board with the image of a lithe jumping ninja (wearing Japanese clothes and a rice hat), and Samurai, a strong blue board featuring a samurai with a thick katana. All three styles look great - it's up to what colors and images you like as to which one you should buy.

Final Word

Premier Viking
The Premier Warrior Series snowskates are a lot of fun. They are cheaper than most snowskates out there (close to half the price of other high quality wood snowskates, or other brands), but in some ways better. If you are looking for a snowskate that you can take outside and just play around on, the Premier Warrior Series snowskates are a good choice. They are a bit big for agressive snowskating, and the colors and styles are strong, but for most people the Warrior series from Premier snowskates are a good choice.

Snowskating is gaining popularity, slowly but surely. If you want something you can learn on, have a little fun with and share without worry, check out the Warrior series snowskates from Premier.
