Touchgrind is something like a fingerboarding skateboard game. The controls are all flick and tap based, and you get to customize your board and skate around a small skatepark. Touchgrind has been getting GREAT reviews for over a year. Some people were frustrated with it - you don't have a character who skates around, instead you just see your skateboard and move it around as if your fingers were feet. It's a lot of fun, but it's not for everyone. The graphics are beautiful 3D, and you can even listen to your own music while you play, if you want to! See Touchgrind on the iTunes app store.

Gameloft's addition to the skateboarding iPhone and iPod world is Skater Nation. Skater Nation is reminiscent of the old Tony Hawk videos games, with open areas full of obstacles, ramps and rails to skate on. You play in a place called Skanifornia, that contains 10 different locations. You can play as one of 8 different skaters, each one having his own attribute stats. The buttons and directional pad controls are on the screen, like a lot of iPhone games use - some may not like this kind of control in games on the iPhone, but it works OK. Check out the free version of Skater Nation, and the paid version of Skater Nation on the app store.
