The Bottom Line
- Well made - Zero has been making decks for a long time, and knows how to do it right
- Slick coated bottom - better for slides
- Zero style - Zero skateboard decks have the strong black-and-white-with-skulls style that rocks!
- SO MANY styles to chose from, you have to find the shape and look for you
- Free stickers (withsome decks, like Afterlife and Spellbound decks)
- There aren't any cons, other than these boards don't have any special technology hype
Description
- Zero skateboard decks are mostly black, with white graphics, though several have other colors
- For testing, I tried out the Spellbound and the Afterlife (I liked Afterlife the best)
- Zero does have some rather harsh graphics (skulls, etc.), that more conservative parents may dislike
- Zero also a lot of stark Christian imagery (crosses and Jesus), that Christian parents may love.
Guide Review - Zero Decks Review
If you've been to a skateboard shop - ever - you have likely seen them: the black decks with sharp white skulls and crosses, sometimes with a splash of red blood. Zero skateboard decks. There are other styles, like pink, or red, white and blue with stars, but the Zero skull stands out. This Zero skull is so iconic, it was parodied on Sid's T-shirt in the movie Toy Story (Sid was the evil neighbor kid - If you haven't seen it, just nod and smile). Zero has a strong punk style.
And though I know that a lot of you skate rats out there will pick out your skateboard based PURELY on what it looks like, there is actually a little bit more to buying a skateboard than style. Honestly. You want Quality, and Zero skateboard decks have enough quality for the rippin'est pros. Zero skateboard decks are made in Mexico from 7 plys of Maple, and are designed to take the roughest skateboarding. A slick coat is added to the bottoms of the boards to help with slides. The color of the deck covers the entire board, even the edges. And you can get so many different styles, shapes and sizes from Zero, I honestly can't imagine not finding something you would like.
For your next board, try out a Zero deck, and see for yourself!
