Guide Review - Bacon Skateboards Review
Bacon makes clothing and hats and piles of stickers, but the real question is their boards. Bacon skate decks are made by South Central Manufacturing in Alabama. SCM uses their own unique glue for these skateboards, giving them good pop and a little more flexibility. I tested one, and found it just as good as my Powell deck. It felt and reacted just like I wanted it to, and took well to being whacked against the concrete. Bacon skate decks are made with fresh wood that hasn't been sitting around in a warehouse, and with a unique wood glue that gives a good strong pop.
Bacon graphics are created by Orr Menard, who has a harsh, violent, old school feeling. For some of you out there, this is perfect. For me, not so much, but I appreciate it. I did like the "Murder Weapon" graphic - clips from newspapers about skateboards being used to kill people, and "Murder Weapon" scribbled across the bottom.
The graphics get scraped off fairly easily. Most skaters don't care so much about losing their graphics due to tricks, but I know some of you do. If you want to keep those graphics, then no slides with your Bacon deck.
Bacon Skateboards is a true skateboarding company, owned by skaters who wanted to make their own style of skateboarding gear. Take a look at the Bacon Skateboards website for more, and check out this article in Concrete Disciples.
