Nike Paul Rodriguez SUPERSMALL

The Bottom Line

The new Nike Zoom Air P-Rods are well built, strong, comfortable skate shoes. Nike P-Rods also have a strong runner profile, and a very subtle look compared to many of the other skateboarding shoes that Nike has put out! A lot of this style and quality comes from these being the Paul Rodriguez signature model Nike skate shoes, and P-Rod definitely knows what he's doing.

Pros

  • Paul Rodriguez pro signature model

  • Mesh Nike swoosh and padded tongue add ventilation
  • Reinforced heel cup and heel cushioning

Guide Review - Nike P-Rod Paul Rodriguez Signature Skate Shoe Review

Paul Rodriguez is incredible (read an interview). In case you missed it, he's been tearing it up. Last year, just two years into P-Rod's pro skater career, he took gold in Street at the 2004 X-Games (read more about it). This year he's been pre-qualified for the Dew Action Sports Tour, and it looks like Paul Rodriguez has plenty more to show us on his board.

But what about his first signature skate shoe? The Nike Zoom Air P-Rod is a good looking, well built skate shoe. It's built with a double stitched tow cap, with more double stitching all across the upper, enhanced air flow, heel cushioning, and P-Rod's "PR" pattern across part of leather wrapping around the heel. The Nike Zoom Air P-Rod also has ribs that ring the sole, and help grip the board. That's a great idea that I haven't seen in any other shoe.

On the drawback side, the Nike P-Rod is a long and narrow shoe, like most Nike's. For some of you, this is perfect. For me, I end up with loads of extra toe space if I want to have the shoes fit. Not a big deal, but something to consider.

The Nike P-Rod has another feature that will be perfect for some. It looks a lot like a regular runner or tennis shoe, and comes in very "normal" color patterns. IF you want wild, Nike has those too, but if you want simple and subtle, The Nike Zoom Air P-Rod might be perfect for you. Like I said, these are well built, very skatable, and look good. Try a pair of Nike P-Rods, and see what you think!
