The Patrick Kerr Skateboarding Scholarship Foundation says, "As mothers of skateboarders, we respect the talent, intelligence, energy, creativity, passion, dedication and drive that we see in these young people. Our mission is to help skateboarders pursue their dreams and attain their career goals by providing college scholarships."
Patrick KerrPatrick Kerr was a 15 year old skater who was extremely active in helping to raise funds for non-profit skateboarding organizations and raising support for public skateparks. Patrick Kerr was also an honor student, so this first skateboarding scholarship in the United States has been named in his honor.
Applying for the ScholarshipThe winner of the Patrick Kerr Skateboarding Scholarship will receive $5,000 toward the undergraduate 2 or 4 year school of their choice, and three more applicants will receive $1000 each. Each applicant must be a high school senior with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The application requires a short essay on, "How has skateboarding been a positive influence in your life?"
