EA SKATE 3
EA Skate 3 builds off of the last two EA Skate games, improving and adding to the experience. Skate 3 doesn't do anything too risky, but instead it polishes up the same gameplay as before, making it even better and more fun. Skate 3 is definitely worth your money. The best thing about Skate 3 is just playing the game. It's smooth, fun, and easy to pick up. The same was true of Skate and Skate 2, and Skate 3 simply makes it even better.
Tony Hawk Ride
There have been over 10 Tony Hawk games come out in the past 10 years. And they are fun.
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is the last game in the traditional Tony Hawk style. It's cheap because it's been out a while!
Tony Hawk Ride is the newest Tony Hawk game, and it went a completely different direction. It comes with a skateboard deck-like controller for you to stand on. It's fun, but very frustrating. Your paths are pre-set, and you manipulate the skateboard with your feet to do tricks while on the path. It IS fun, but the controls are touchy to try and master.
The older Tony Hawk Pro Skater games are also still a lot of fun, and version 1, 3 and 4 can all be played on Gametap.com!
Tony Hawk Downhill Jam for Wii
What could be better than trying to skate downhill in a race, using the Wii's difficult-to-manage controls? Tony Hawk Downhill Jam is a lot of fun, but by no means is it as good as it could have been. But, there's not a lot of competition out there for it, so why not give it a rent? You can play it with 3 other people, all on one Wii console, which is more than you can do with any of the other Tony Hawk games (well, except Pro Skater 2 ... but that's very very
old now!). And, while playing, you can elbow your friends to mess them up!
This is an online game, but one that isn't free. You need to have a Game Now account in order to play it.
Backyard Skateboarding is a fun, cute, fully 3D skateboarding game where you play a little kid with a huge head who skates around getting power ups. The game is fun and funny, and even features Andy Macdonald! Originally, Backyard Skateboarding came out as a computer game back in 2004, but it didn't get much recognition at the time.
Sir Mantaplay Productions
Skateboarding Must Die is the first edition of the STOKED! trading card game (TCG) system, geared for and featuring skateboarding as the main theme. The game didn't take off as well as Pokemon, or other collectible card games, but it is honestly a fun game, and the art on the cards is pretty sweet, with some real art from Birdhouse skateboards, and cartoon versions of Birdhouse riders Willy Santos and Brian Sumner.
This game might be hard to find now, but card games like this do seem to linger around for a long long time...
Skate or Die
Yes, I'm talking about the 80s skateboarding arcade and console game that blew the mind of a generation. I know that sounds over the top, but back then, moving colored pixels could do a lot. Sure, if you play it now, it might not be as shockingly amazing looking as, say, anything else, but it's still fun! And, you can download it to your Wii virtual console. The game still has half pipe freestyle and high jump, downhill race and jam, and pool joust!
