The Sponsors’ Challenge

At the Skate Shop, Mindy introduces you to the concept of Sponsor challenges. These are specific gameplay challenges you can accomplish every 24 hours in order to improve your skills. The more you complete, the better off you are. You’ll have to complete at least a few if you want to make the Tony Hawk Am-Jam coming up.

Each neighborhood has a skate shop. Anytime you want to engage in these challenges, simply skate up to the local shop and select the clipboard posted outside.

This time around, the challenges are simple. You have to GRIND for 1 second, land a 1,000 point combo, CAVEMAN one time in a combo, and Ollie up 3 feet. Let’s get started busting these tricks. The grind trick is easy – simply find a rail and maintain your balance for a second.

The 1,000 point combo is also easy – you can get that by grinding for a few seconds, or by using the ramps right next to the skate shop to pop a few tricks. If you use the ramps and get some air, you’ll also take care of the 3-FOOT OLLIE requirement. To Caveman in a combo, simply repeat the grind trick you accomplished in your first mission. Step off your board, run up to a rail, and press the GRIND button, and you’re good.

Notice that as you successfully execute these challenges, your stats increase. The key to executing high-point combos in Tony Hawk is to maintain a constant string of challenging combinations without pausing or falling off. The better your stats are, the more complex combos you’ll be able to pull off.
