ASA Action Sports World TourOn May 1st the ASA Action Sports World Tour will visit the Sears Centre Arena with a one-day competition featuring the world’s top X Games pros in Skateboard, BMX and Freestyle Motocross (FMX). As the third stop on the 2009 Tour, this event offers a chance for the competing athletes to gain the valuable ranking points necessary for qualification into the season-ending Action Sports World Championships and for fans in the Windy City to see these amazing aerial artists live for the first time after a 12-year absence.

Maloof Money CupBeginning
May 1st, 2009 the Search for Ams contest will award two winners from the Street category and two winners from the Vert category with a spot in the World Industries Amateur Contest at the Maloof Money Cup, held in July 2009. Videos should be submitted at

Held in Costa Mesa, California from July 10th to 12th, 2009 at the OC Fair and Event Center. The Maloof Money Cup had the largest prize purse in the history of pro skateboarding in 2008 with over $450,000 given out in three disciplines - Pro Street, Men's Pro Vert, and Amateur.

X Games AsiaHeld from May 1-3, 2009 in Shanghai, China.

Alli - China InvitationalAn extension of the Dew Tour in Beijing, China, held from
May 8-10, 2009. This is a men's street and vert skateboarding contest, and will be held at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium.
Greg Lutzka of Hunting Beach, Calif. along with 2008 Skate Vert Dew Cup champion, Pierre Luc Gagnon of Montreal, Canada and skate vert legend Bob Burnquist of Brazil are confirmed to be there. Four-time BMX Vert Dew Cup champion Jamie Bestwick of England and Chad Kagy of Gilory, Calif. will join fellow Dew Tour BMX riders for intense competition on the vert ramp.
NBC will broadcast the China Invitational on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. Time is subject to change so please check your local listings.

Mighty Mama Skate-O-RamaThis mothers day's skateboarding bash is set for May 10th, 2009 (Mother's Day). The money raised will go to help out the library at Rosie's Garage, an organization that helps provide tutoring for kids in need. Check out the Skateboardmom website for more info.
Pro-Tec Pool Party

Pro-Tec Pool PartyAn invitational pro bowl skateboarding competition held at the Vans skatepark in Orange, California from May 15-16, 2009.

Central Valley AM JAMThis will be a series of four contests beginning in Riverbank, Ca on April 18th, 2009, then continuing onto Tracy, Ca
May 16th, 2009. The next stop is Ceres, Ca on June 21, 2009 "Go Skateboarding Day" and then last but not least Ripon, Ca. on July 11, 2009. This will also be the final stop and the top 3 overall points winners of each age group will be awarded Grand Prizes.
At each stop the 5 five age groups 9 and under, 10 - 12, 13 - 15, 16-17, and 18+, will compete in a four person 5 minute jam. With the top five highest scored skaters in each age group, going on to the finals and completing a 7 minute jam to showcase their talents. Top 5 will also qualify for California State Games in San Diego, Ca July 16 - 19, 2009.

The Free Flow tour is an amateur skateboarding and BMX competition that tours around the United States, with stops all over the country. The competitions are open to any amateur skater or rider aged 18 or under, and it only costs $10 to enter! If you lose, you still get a prize bag and there's a party, but if you win, you can get into the Free Flow Tour finals, and then win a Wild Card spot in the finals of the Dew Action Sports Tour, skateboarding or riding against the pros!!

Central Coast Monster Skate ContestThe Monster Skate Contest is an amateur skate competition series held throughout San Luis Obispo County in California. The contest his various county cities throughout the spring. The Monster Skate Contest has been happening every year since 2005, and is a huge event for the central California coast. The third contest May 2nd, the fourth is May 15th, and the final is May 30th 2009 in Los Osos.

Slam City JamSCJ is postponed again. It was supposed to move back to Vancouver for 2008, from May 23rd to 25th, and be combined with the Hastings Bowl. But, wonder of wonder, it's been postponed again. Ever since the contest came under new ownership, it's had issues. Also known as the North American Skateboard Championships, SCJ been around since 1994, and is (or was) the longest running skateboarding event in North America. Now it is postponed until 2010.

The Damn Am is series of 4 contests contests for amateur skateboarders. All of them are free to watch for anyone. There’s no security, no VIP, it’s just open and a super chill environment. There’s always free food and drinks at every Damn Am also along with a giant product toss of gear contributed by all the sponsors.
