Los Angeles, Calif. – Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins knows the names of the skateboarders who have won gold on the very ramp that she was skating Saturday afternoon. And knowing that, Hawkins (Cardiff By the Sea, Calif.) went out and put her name right along with some of those legends with an outstanding performance at Skateboard Women’s Vert.

Hawkins’ Kickflip Indy Grab – never before done by a woman – helped seal a gold-medal run that also included a Rocket to Fakie 360 and a Backside Nollie.

“I am so stoked,” said Hawkins, who finished fourth in Friday’s Skateboard Women’s Street competition. “This is the biggest honor of my life to be here this weekend.”

Pioneer Cara-Beth Burnside (Encinitas, Calif.) was second after an Inverted Air Plant and Feeble Grind to Fakie. “I love the energy,” said the 36-year-old of her fellow skaters. “They are all such great friends and they keep making me want to try harder.”

Mimi Knoop (Chesapeake, Va.) finished third with a Frontside Air and an Inverted Kickflip. “It was such a great day because I never medaled before in anything,” she said.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, X Games X is the world’s premier action sports competition featuring more than 150 of the world’s best athletes competing in: Aggressive In-line Skate, Bike Stunt, Moto X, Skateboard, Surfing and Wakeboard. The event is being held August 5-8, 2004 in Los Angeles with live primetime daily coverage on ESPN and ABC Sports. SportsCenter, ESPN’s flagship daily news program, will also report LIVE from X Games X from August 5-7 for the first time in X Games history
