The Worlds Premier Action Sports Event Hosts Girls Learn To Ride Day * Sunday, August 8 at the X Fest Venue Outside STAPLES Center
Los Angeles, Calif. ESPN X Games, the premier action sports competition, in conjunction with OP Girls Learn To Ride, presents Girls Learn To Ride Day at X Games X, a celebration of women in action sports. Girls Learn To Ride Day will take place at the X Fest venue outside STAPLES Center, Sunday, August 8. X Fest, part of the main X Games competition venue at the STAPLES Center, is an interactive action sports themed festival featuring more than 200,000 square feet of non-stop entertainment with live music, demos, an interactive skatepark and more for fans of X Games.
Top female X Games athletes are scheduled to participate in Girls Learn To Ride Day, which will feature several free demos and clinics designed to give females of all ages the basic skills and confidence necessary to participate in action sports. Activities include:
ATHLETE AUTOGRAPH SESSIONS (all day):
X Games athletes Fabiola da Silva (Aggressive In-Line Skate), Lyn-Z
Adams Hawkins (Skateboard), Dallas Friday (Wakeboard) and others will be
signing autographs throughout the day at the Women of Action Sports
booth, located in the X Fest venue area.
GIRLS LEARN TO RIDE CLINICS
(Skate 10 a.m. & 11 a.m.; Bike Stunt 2 p.m.):
Girls ages 10 and older can learn to skateboard or ride a BMX bike from
some of the top female pro riders at one of three one-hour free
clinics. Equipment for all clinics, including safety helmets and pads, is
provided free-of-charge and all girls in attendance will receive a free
Girls Learn To Ride/X Games gift bag. All clinics are first come, first
served. Space is limited.
BIKE STUNT, IN-LINE AND SKATE DEMO
(BMX 12 p.m.; Skate/In-Line 3 p.m.):
The best female X Games athletes in the world from skateboard,
aggressive in-line skate, and bike stunt will show their skills on the X Fest
interactive street course.
Gates at STAPLES Center open at 10 a.m. on August 8. The Women of Action Sports booth will feature information on several organizations including Boarding For Breast Cancer, the Womens Motocross Association and World Cup Skateboarding. Each group will provide information about how women can become involved with their organizations.
In addition, G. Love, Juliette & The Licks and End of June are scheduled to perform on the music stage on Sunday.
