As the only tour with street skating's biggest stars, Street League has had astounding growth since its launch. The 2011 season was the highest attended and viewed contest series in skateboarding history with nearly 50,000 fans in attendance and over 1.4 billion global impressions. Last year's champion, Sean Malto, emerged above the world's best to walk away with the Championship, and in the process denied teen phenomenon Nyjah Huston a first-ever season sweep. Huston enjoyed an historical year winning the first three events, giving the 2010 League Champion an unprecedented four career Street League victories. Along with Malto and Huston, the heavy hitting roster of Street League remains stronger than ever with stars like Chris Cole, Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler, Chaz Ortiz, and Torey Pudwill ready to stake their claim to the 2012 Championship.
Street League announced that the final six spots of the 24-skater roster will be
selected via an all-new qualifier series: The Selection. Voting on the never before

2012 Street League: Kansas City, Mo.
More from ESPN: "One such moment: At the end of Saturday's Street League Kansas City finals event, in what amounts to a classic jam session except the prize purse is $10,000 for the best trick, Tommy Sandoval mesmerized the audience with a massive frontside 180 flip from the quarterpipe over the barrier, leaping over camera cords out of the park, into a parted space enthusiastically provided by the crowd. With his wild, golden Thor locks, Sandoval seemed every bit a happy warrior."
ESPN's coverage continues with, "Many Street League skaters have clearly adapted to the contest's low-oxygen, high-altitude atmosphere. The veteran skaters have built a comfortable relationship with their audience, and as a result, many of the competitors are now able to provide exactly what they desire exactly when they desire it with pinpoint accuracy." The FIRST STOP of the 2012 Street League was a huge success - according to ESPN, "Street League is many things. Street League is a multimedia extravaganza. Street League is sports theater. Street League is an attempt to introduce something resembling objective, data-driven analysis to a sport that has always prized the subjective and the highly eccentric. Street League is Rob Dyrdek's ambitious personal vision and aesthetic writ large."
