What about this year? This year's Dew Tour looks to be even bigger, with larger crowds, and more excitement. Shaun White, winner of the 2005 Panasonic Open in Skateboard Vert, says "I'm so excited about the Dew Action Sports Tour this season. I felt robbed last year since I couldn't make it to all the stops because of training for the Olympics. This season I am trying to do all the stops and go for it and really be a professional skateboarder."
Dave Mirra says, "I started thinking about the 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour in November 2005. I did my homework early so I'd be ready for the test. My goal heading into the second season is to stay consistent and go after the Dew Cup in BMX Park."
"More of everything!" says Allan Cooke (BMX Park and Dirt). "More spectators, money, food, competition, etc. It is what is good about all the other contests of the year times 10!" And there is plenty of money to be won. Last year Ryan Guettler took home more than $250,000!
Anthony Furlong (Skateboard Vert - 5th place in 2005) says, "you need stamina and consistency throughout the 5 stops." That's one of the major differences between the Dew Action Sports Tour and other action sports events. Athletes have to consistently perform well over several stops in order to win.
The Dew Tour is an incredible event - I highly recommend checking it out. Along with skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross, there will be live concerts, the Free Flow Tour finals, and a huge action sports-themed festival village full of games, food, fun and who knows what else. Check out photos from the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour (or the Photo Journal) to get an idea. Don't miss out - this year's Dew Action Sports Tour should be great!
