San Jose, CA – Dave Mirra, 31, of Greenville, N.C., today took home his first win at the Dew Action Sports Tour, placing first in the BMX Park competition. Mirra’s backflip tailwhip over the spine in his first run helped to earn him a winning score of 92.25. The higher score of two runs is taken to determine the rider’s final score.

“I did what I wanted to do,” said Mirra, who now sits in fifth place in the Tour’s BMX Park standings with 176 points. “Heading into Orlando, I’m able to creep back into the points race. Every Tour stop is a building block. You have got to come out strong from the start and finish even stronger. [Second place finisher Scotty] Cranmer is the future of this sport. He is an amazing athlete and he gave me a run for my money.”

Sheckler won today’s competition with a score of 90.92. Sheckler’s final trick in the second jam session was a frontside flip off the bank to flat, making him the only athlete to land that trick. With his win, Sheckler clinched the Dew Action Sports Tour Skateboard Park title, as he is more than 100 points ahead of the competition.

“I was excited to win because now I get a new truck,” said Sheckler. “I’m skating amazing and in my prime right now. It’s so fun, I’m so lucky. It’s just crazy to be able to do this.”

Tony Trujillo, 22, of Santa Rosa, Calif. finished in second place. This was his first Dew Action Sports Tour competition. Chad Fernandez, 28, of Los Angeles, Calif. finished in third place. He currently sits in second in the Skateboard Park points standings with 264 points.
