Guide Review - Shoes - Nike Zoom Air Angus

When Nike first entered the skate shoe market, they were bashed for being weird and ugly. The Zoom Air Angus is a great leap forward on the cool-meter, but also a great high tech shoe with plenty of meat. In fact, some people are even calling it the new Dunk.

Technologically, the Angus is a great shoe. It incorporates breathable panels in the sides and tongue, has a thick action leather upper, is double and triple stitched, and is just plain tough. The sole is great for skating, being made from two rubber types with a good tread with flex points built in. There's nothing else built into it though to help you out skating. no special rubber toe cap, no kick flip panels, none of that. Instead, the shoe seems to be going for style, trusting in the thick leather upper to take the abuse of technical street tricks.

And these shoes do a good job with style. At present, there are 6 different color patterns, and they all look good. There's more subdued color schemes, and bright loud ones if that's what you prefer. The Nike swish is prominent on the side, and at a glance you might mistake these for regular running shoes.

Finally, lets talk about comfort. These shoes are very comfortable, with the Nike Zoom Air heel cushion that is about the best heel cushion I've felt in a shoe. The soles are cushy, but not too thick so you can still feel the board rather well.

These are good shoes - some of he best out there. I highly recommend them.
