The Bottom Line
Pros
- The pads are thick and well placed, but yet flexible enough to feel comfortable.
- Non-restrictive. These don't mess you up or get in your way.
- Discreet - if you don't want people to see your pads, the underwear model works well under shorts.
Cons
- The mesh style is a little itchy on the legs - but the cotton lycra worked ok.
- There's a big jump between sizes - so if you fall in the middle, get the larger size.
Description
- Impact resistant high density thermal formed polyethylene closed cell foam. That's good.
- Flexible, non-restrictive design.
- Comes in mesh or breathable cotton lycra, both of which work well and are comfortable.
- The pads are scored for greater flexibility, and become even more flexible and comfortable with use.
- Underwear style can be worn under clothing to be more discreet, while still protecting your butt.
Guide Review - Crash Pads Underwear
The design feels natural, and the pads don't stand out under clothing. But beyond how they look, they also function well. Your tail bone, full hips, and even your butt bones are well protected with these shorts.
And they transition well to any sport. Ice Skating, Aggressive Inline, Snowboarding, Mountain Biking, Skiing, BMX, Hockey, Skateboarding - I could rattle off the list for pages. These shorts are a great universal investment when trying something fun and dangerous, and a good idea for trying out big new tricks.
I only came across two drawbacks - first was with the mesh style. It may just be my super sensitive legs, but the mesh felt itchy at times. But, once I got hot and sweaty (nice picture, eh?), I didn't notice this. But I did notice an added bonus - once you get the pads warm, they're even more flexible!
The second drawback I found was in sizing. I seem to be right between sizes, so when ordering your Crash Pads, if you are between sizes - get the larger size.
Bottom line - these things work great, and are well worth the money.
