Guide Review - CD - Bones Brigade Video Tunes
It's wild to me that skating's been around long enough to have anything "classic". It's crazy - it seems like last week that I was calling my friend James a "skater biscuit", and the fat fish tailed boards were everywhere. But time flies by, and now those skate videos and boards from the 80s are all classic and old school, and call back from pretty strong memories. The Bones Brigade Video Show, Future Primitive, Animal Chin videos were groundbreaking, and if you haven't seen them, you still should.Skateboarding and music have always had a strong tie. There's nothing like skating to music that means something to you, and that gets you pumped up. The trend today in videos and events is to have regular music playing for the background, and a lot of skaters incorporate old school music with their routines. But these videos were the real deal - this music is all original, totally classic, and hard to find. If you are an old school skater, this is a CD you'll totally want. If you know an old school skater, this CD is seriously the perfect gift.
If you don't know or don't care about old school skating, then I'm surprised you read this far. I'd still recommend you own this CD, as a chunk of history. The music is a lot simpler than the music of today, with less modulation and less editing. The style is more a mix of 80's rock, big band, some synth instrumental, and humor. It's a wide swath of music, and there'll be something in there that you'll like.
