Indo Walkabout

The Bottom Line

If you are buying an Indo Board, you'll want this video - and, you should buy the DVD version. If you don't own an Indo Board, but are into Long Board Surfing, this video is also a great idea. It's split into four sections, mostly about cross stepping, and a section on how to learn on your Indo Board. The Walkabout is a well done video - not the quality of entertainment sports videos, but extremely well done for an instructional video.

Guide Review - Video - The Walkabout

The Walkabout is a must for anyone learning to longboard surf. It's packed with instruction, interviews (with Donald Takayama, Bob McTavish, Nat Young, Joel Tudor, Kevin Connelly, Dane Peterson, Kassia Meador, and Josh Baxter) all giving their views about cross stepping, and tons more.

Now, what if you don't surf? I don't, but after watching this video I sure wish I could! I wanted to see it for it's instructional section on using the Indo Board, and I wasn't disappointed. The Indo section features Hunter Joslin on an Original Indo Board in front of a blue screen. As he walks you through basic Indo techniques, behind him plays some great surfing footage. Often the footage is more than just for fun - it's showing you the real application of what you're practicing. Hunter has a great, easy going manner, and learning with the Walkabout video is easy and comfortable.

The one draw back for me was the lack of any instruction on using any of the other Indo Boards, namely the Kicktail and Mini Kicktail. It makes sense this way, with The Walkabout being a surfing instructional video, but it would still be nice to have. Also, make sure you do get the DVD version. The video is broken into four sections, and it's nice to be able to pick the section you want, and to go back to the training section that you want to revisit with one push of a button.

So, if you long board surf, or if you own an Indo Board, get the Walkabout DVD.
