Tony Hawk is BACK with Independent

By January 11, 2013

Follow me on:

So Tony Hawk is heading back to Independent Truck Company! This is big news! And, sort of no news at all. It's big because Hawk's name is still a huge draw, and the guy can still skate. On the other hand, Hawk is getting up there in years, his video games have been terrible, and he's sold his name a LOT. On the other hand Hawk has had such a huge impact on skateboarding, he's sure to bring some fresh something-or-other to Independent. On the OTHER hand, despite the teaser showing Hawk falling, the guy can't really skate that aggressively any more. In fact, I'm pretty sure we get to see him fall just so that we'll think, "Oh, he can't be that old because look, he fell!"<p>

On the other hand, I have a cold and am grumpy that I have to get up early tomorrow. So what do YOU think? Post below! And either way, watch the teaser video now, and see the big debut on Monday January 14th at the Independent website!

I thought his video was surprisingly solid. I think you might be right btw, about showing Hawk’s fall as a positive. I didn’t even think about that when I watched it but now that I look back I was like, “dang, he took a big fall and kept on going until he got it!”

On the other hand, it is pretty weird for me to see Tony on the Independent team after seeing so many of his boards on shelves at Target & Academy for so long- I’m happy for him though, I hope he does really well
