TED talks are these often amazing short little videos where someone impressive talks about something they know a lot about, and that's super interesting. Well, the TED people had Rodney Mullen do a talk - here's how they described him:
"What do skateboarding and innovation have in common? More than you might think. A successful entrepreneur and innovator, Rodney Mullen is widely considered the most influential street skater in history, inventing most of the tricks used today."
So, sit back and watch this video of Rodney Mullen's TED Talk at USC, and hear about his history in skateboarding, his rise, fall and rise again freer that before. He then talks about how skaters see their environment differently, and how the environment changes the tricks you do. And even better, he talks about how creating for the sake of creating is beautiful, especially in the context of a community.
The video is just under 18 minutes long, and inspiring. Check it out!
Also interesting, Gavin Davison, a 10 year old skater, gave a TED talk about The Future of Skateboarding in Portland. Gavin started his own skateboard deck company at 7 years old... he has some ideas!
