I get a lot of emails from skaters who want to know how to go pro with skateboarding. I have a huge article on the subject, written by a guy in the know - take a look at How to Get, Be and Stay Sponsored as a Skater. Because, you see, the trick isn't just in getting sponsored. You want to KEEP that sponsorship, right?! So, what's expected of sponsored skaters? And how do you keep on the sponsor's good side? This article will help.
While on the subject, there are also a lot of skaters out there who are ANTI sponsorship. And I'd like to say that that's great, and totally in line with skateboarding's roots and heritage. To each their own, I say. If you want fame, money, and your name on boards and shoes, then go for it! If you want to stay obscure, and know that you're the best, and don't need anyone else to tell you how to skate, then do it! Either way, if you're enjoying what you're doing and feel good about it and yourself, you're winning.
