Skateboarding is a huge piece of our culture. Millions of people all over the world have tried skating at one point or another, and skateboarding's sub culture is rich and dynamic. No wonder writers and directors like to use it to make movies. We've put together a list of the Top 10 Skateboarding Movies of All Time. These aren't skate videos, but actual movies with stories and actors (except one documentary, but that's in there because it's really stinking good). Take a look at the list and see what you've seen, and what you need to see!
And film makers, please notice that the story of a young skater who wants to go pro has been DONE. A LOT. How about the story of a skater who ... fights crime? THAT would be a twist! If you could make any skateboarding movie that you wanted, what would it be? Comment below!

What I personally think would be interesting is a story/movie of an older ex-skater deciding to go back and do what s/he loves. Moral of the story: skating is about having fun, no matter what age you may find yourself enjoying it at.

That’s what I’ve done in real life. I was a skater from age 11 to about 21, and then I started skating again after about 14 years. I’ve been consistently skateboarding now for four years. It’s more difficult to do flip tricks, but I’m getting really good at downhill and sliding. I can shred around town, ollie curbs and some smaller ledges. I do a decent manual. It’s been a great way to stay in shape. You should write the movie!
