Scarpar motorized skateboardMotorized skateboards have been coming out from time to time for the last decade, but Scarpar's new off road motorized board looks to actually be amazing, and I think I want one. The thing can go 32 miles per hour for up to an hour on one battery. It's futuristic tank tread design means you can ride it over mud, rocks, sand, snow - up to a 15 degree incline. That's pretty amazing, and I want one! Meanwhile, the board is sized so that you can fit it into your trunk (some dissassembly required). Honestly, this thing looks like an actual, usable motorized board, and it is the first one I've seen that I actually take serious. It comes out at the beginning of next year, for the low low price of only $3800 US. That's a lot of cash, and funny enough it's mostly due to the battery! Even so... I want one. Can you imaging zipping down to the store, or hitting sand dunes, or ... anywhere. At that speed and range, you could use this thing to ride to school or work!

Scarpar motorized skateboardScarpar had a tank tread motorized skateboard prototype back in 2009 that looked more sleek and silver, but also less durable. This new board looks sweet, and is actually going to be sold, which is a smart way for the company to make money. I asked the question back then, and I'll ask it again now, 2 and a half years later: Do you think motorized skateboards are a good idea? Do YOU want one? What would you do with it if you had one?

Steve,

A bit more on the battery … it absolutely drives the cost of electric vehicles. If you check some of the other small vehicles available (motorbikes etc) their spare batteries about the same as ours are US$3000 … says it all.

Thanks for the follow up.

Great site, is visually really good. Should you want to look at it standing online though, you’re going to need to design back links.

Awesome product!

Got to love the torque on electric vehicles too, 6kva impulse when you hit the throttle will do more then rip your socks off so make sure those feet are tucked in tight!
The zero to max speed is probably only 3 seconds on a paved surface, cant wait to try one out.

Nah, motors are best suited for things you sit on.

And, just to keep with the rest of the comments:
