Having your own skateboard grind rail at your house is great - you can pull it out when you want to have some fun or practice, and you don't have to go to a park. And you can't get yelled at by cops, because you're at your own home!
A lot of skaters buy grind rails, and there are several good ones on the market, but building your own skateboard grind rail isn't really that tough. Plus you'll save yourself some money! The hardest part is finding the equipment to weld the parts together. But if you or your kids go to junior high or high school, you can probably weld the rail together there! On the other hand, knowing how to weld and having hte right equipment around your house is pretty handy too. You can do anything from welding armor plating to your car, to making art out of old scrap! AND, you can make a home made skateboard rail!

When I was younger, I made a simple rail out of some wood and some aluminum trimming. Since the trimming was already bent, it was as easy as screwing it into the 2 by 4 that I had found in my dad’s garage. When I wanted to skate the rail, I just dragged it out to the street and put it on the edge of the curb so that it would be raised up off the ground a little bit. Lots of good times were had on that rail. The best part was that I didn’t have to weld anything together!
