Railstand your way to Awesomeness

Tuesday June 9, 2009
photo by Michale AndrusSome people call it a Primo stand or stall, but it's traditional "correct" name is the Railstand. Primo looks similar, but you should be sliding when you do it ... but the names of skate tricks are always evolving!

The name "railslide" comes from back in the day when skateboards had rails along their edges. You've probably seen someone railslide - a flatland skateboarding trick where the skater ends up standing on the edge of his or her skateboard.

The railstand is a great skateboarding trick to learn. It looks sweet, and is a great way to add a little style to your skating. The great thing about the railstand skateboarding trick is that you don't really need to know how to ollie, or do much else before learning to railstand. Read the Step by Step How To Railstand article to learn.

Ahh primo riviera - does anyone else remember seeing him and his wife Judy at Universal Studios Hollywood in the early 90’s ripping out some amazing primo tricks in neon parachute pants? Sometimes I wonder if that was just a dream I confused for reality…

you can also get into a casper from a heelside primo. move your back foot to the grip tape, between the trucks, and sort of scoop it up.
