EA Skate 2 and EA Skate It

Saturday September 6, 2008
EA Skate 2 Rob Dyrdeck"That's right, we're dropping the deuce!"

That's the quote at the end of the original Skate 2 promo video. All the video features is a huge skateboard flying slowly towards earth. But, it's exciting news, right?! Especially with no Tony Hawk game out this year (see next blog posting!), this will be the year of SKATE!

According to my discreet insider on the EA front, "Skate 2 is in the works! We’ve doubled the bag of tricks in the game and the city, San Vanelona has been completely overhauled." There's also some news about seeing the game early that I'm just DYING to tell you, but I can't. Not yet. But as soon as they give the go-ahead, I'll let you know!

Here are some fun Skate 2 details to get you excited. First off, there will be more tricks. Of course. You'll also be able to take your feet off the skateboard! You'll be able to pull off a boneless, you'll be able to get off the board and walk around, and you'll be able to crash more spectacularly! You might be able to move things around - there's a rumor about that - and the city should be even more diverse. Oh, and you will be able to skate as a girl! Ta da!

EA Skate It screen shot nintendo wiiSkate-It is a Nintendo game, one of the Wii and one for the DS. They'll use the sweet "Flickit" controls of the original SKATE, and the Wii Skate It game will use the new Wii Balance Board! Here's what they say,

"Skate It unleashes the FlickIt revolution on to the Nintendo platforms, letting gamers use the Wii remote or the Nintendo DS stylus to string together their best tricks for the ultimate skate line. The Wii remote becomes a skateboard and reacts to gestures that mirror actual skate flips and moves. Players can also deepen this experience by planting their feet on the Wii Balance Board."
So, whether you have an Xbox 360, PS3 or Nintendo Wii, hopefully you will have a new skateboarding game to play this Christmas!
