So where's Tony Hawk 10?!?

Wednesday September 3, 2008
Tony Hawk game screenshot from ActivisionUsually, around this time of year, I'm showing off the latest screen shots of the new Tony Hawk video game, coming out in the fall. But this year, we've got nothing! So what happened?

EA SKATE is what happened! Last year was the first year in forever that Activision ever had real competition, and EA SKATE did very, very well (some report selling more than 2 to Tony Hawk's 1). So now it looks like they are taking some extra time with Tony Hawk 10. Here's what I've found out so far:

  • First off, Neversoft won't be making the next Tony Hawk game. That's huge news - they've made the last 10 years worth of the game. Many people are nervous about a Tony Hawk game made by someone else. Why not Neversoft? Well, it looks like it might be because of Guitar Hero games taking up all of Neversoft's time. But, it's especially juicy news when you look at who is making the next Tony Hawk game:
  • Rumor has it that a game company called Robomodo will be making the next Hawk game. Robomodo is made of ex-EA game makers. Crazy, huh? You can read more about it on Kotaku.com.
So, what does this all mean? Well, you won't see Tony Hawk 10 out until at least 2009. According to Planet Tony Hawk, the game is going to be called Tony Hawk's Adrenaline (or Amplitude or Tony Hawk's Huck Jam). Or, there might be more than one game in the works, using a couple of these names. Here's a quote off their quote off a screen shot that got taken down ... I don't think I've ever quoted something more solid in my life:
In Tony Hawk's Adrenaline a new motion sensing board controller takes your game off the couch and launches you into the ultimate skateboarding experience. Thanks to an intuitive board based control scheme it's never been easier to pull off amazing tricks and feel the sensation of skateboarding. Shift your weight to turn and balance grinds, kick back on the tail of the board to ollie and lean into airs to pull off huge spins. Feel the sensation of dropping into a 60ft mega ramp, bombing down the worlds steepest streets, and watching the earth disappear beneath your board as you launch out of a halfpipe. Next gen graphics amplify the fun as you ride through thrilling situations like these. Put down the controller, step on the board and feel the sensation of going big.
So, there you go. Rumors, whispers and intrigue. If you've heard anything about Tony Hawk 10, or if you have any thoughts or opinions about what you've just read, leave a comment below!!

I think Tony Hawk will never be as big as it could be in the 3 first opus of the serie.

Skate became the NEW leader last year, & things will never be the same.

But I agree with you , and was still expecting some screenshots for the “TONY HAWK XXXX enormous underground fantasticous 10″ , but no. nothing happened!

Yeah, what platform will it be released. I still dont have a PS3, I think they are still too much. But The main question is, how different will it be. I have bought all of the THPS series since the beginning, and they have introduced some new stuff, but their are still alot of tricks that have not been done, as far as transfers, and i think the grinding would look cool if chunks of cement came off the coping, and have like a vert doubles section where you and your friend can skate on the same screen and rip it up vert doubles style. Man Neversoft was a killer company too bad they parted ways. Now Go Skate!!!!

But, ‘Skate It’ on the Wii can use the balance board!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the TH games, but its a shame to see them copying to to keep up. This isn’t the innovation that they’ve been advertising. They’d better have something else, REALLY good.

Well there is news about it at noobfeed.com, along with a nice BIG review of all the games in the series thus far.
