Elissa Steamer takes back gold in Women's Street

Friday August 1, 2008
ESPN ImagesIt seems to me that Elissa Steamer has been the reigning female street skater forever. I don't really remember any other woman dominating street skateboard competitions at anywhere near her level.

But then, last year, Marisa Dal Santo won the gold.

It was a strange moment. A lot of people wondered if Steamer would back off then, but she did no such thing. "I've been living and breathing skating everyday the last couple years, not just skating when I feel like it." Steamer said, "Obviously it paid off."

Dal Santo did win silver though, and Amy Caron won her second bronze in a row. Here are the final results of Women's Skateboard Street:

  1. Elissa Steamer - final score 87.83
  2. Marisa Dal Santo - final score 81.50
  3. Amy Caron - final score 80.00
  4. Rachel Reinhard - final score 78.00
  5. Leticia Bufoni - final score 77.00
