Burnquist Upsets Way in Big Air

Thursday July 31, 2008
Bryce Kanights, Shazamm, ESPN ImagesThe X Games Big Air competition has been dominated by Danny Way since the event's beginning. That's 3 gold medals in a row. Of course, he invented it, so you'd think he should be good at it! But, even with a busted foot a few years back (be broke it jumping over the Great Wall of China), he still took home the Big Air gold.

But this year, today, we have a new king of Skateboarding Big Air - Bob Burnquist! Danny Way did take silver, and Jake Brown (he got a lot of buzz last year for falling like 50 feet off this ramp, and walking away) won bronze! Here's the final rankings:

  1. Bob Burnquist - final score 96
  2. Danny Way - final score 94
  3. Jake Brown - final score 91.33
  4. Andy Macdonald - final score 83.33
  5. Adam Taylor - final score 34.66
  6. Pierre-Luc Gagnon - final score 1 (oops...)
