Guerrilla Skatepark: mobile skatepark revealed

Thursday July 24, 2008
Guerrilla Skatepark FlyerThis is something new. Quiksilver has teamed up with architect Jesse Rodato to create a mobile skatepark, that they plan on taking to the inner city of LA. Crazy, awesome idea. The park, called the "Guerrilla Skatepark", is first going to be shown off at Quiksilver's sileLA. The display will run from the 25th of July to August 15th. They will be giving away Jesse's plans for building the mobile skatepark, in the hopes that others will catch on to the idea and build more in other places!

Throughout this event, there will also be other artists (tiki jay one, Elbino and BEMOR) showing off graffiti art, and a jewelry designer called Dust will be exhibiting handmade feather jewelery...

Yeah, I didn't get too excited about that part either, but this mobile skatepark sounds amazing! It all fits into one truck, and will be carried into siteLA all through one door. This sounds very impressive, and opens up all kinds of ideas for building similar structures in your area! And the plans to build it are free.

On the 25th, Quiksilver's team riders and some other pro and legendary skaters will be testing out the ramp, and they will screen a skate video featuring Quiksilver team riders Alex Olsen and Danny Garcia alongside the high school students who have helped with the Guerrilla Skatepark project. Quiksilver skater Danny Garcia and his band Mothers Sons will be performing live on the "Gibson Stage" at siteLA. And there will be free drinks. I can't imagine not wanting to go...

Quiksilver's siteLA is located at 2522 Sunset Blvd., Silver Lake, CA 90026. It is open regularly from Wednesday through Saturday, 1:00pm to 6:00pm. All events are free and welcome for all.

ohh, feather jewelry! I love feathers???? I can picture them in a room planning it, “but guys, where are we gonna find some really neat feather jewelry to sell? We can’t proceed without the feathers. we need someone with a clever sounding gay pseudonym. Something like ‘dust,’…mysterious…”
