Skate contest season update
Friday May 16, 2008
There's too much happening right now to give you a posting fort each, so here's what's happening through the end of the month!
- 2008 Mid Atlantic Skate Series starts today, May 17th and carries on to August. If you live on the East Coast, you should certainly check it out - with street and bowl contests for all ages and abilities, and pro-given classes on skateboarding, this is the family series of the summer!
- The Free Flow Tour also starts today in Arizona, with piles of stops all summer long, all over the US. If you are an amateur skater who wants to compete and noticed or go pro, the Free Flow Tour is perfect for you. Follow the link for schedule and more info.
- The Central Coast Monster Skate Contest is still rocking San Luis Obispo county in California. The contest has one more event tomorrow at Grover Beach and then the last contest is on the 31st in San Luis Obispo.
- The Slam City Jam is postponed again (see photos from the past). SCJ has had a rough time since it came under new leadership. Also known as the North American Skateboard Championships, SCJ been around since 1994, and is (or was) the longest running skateboarding event in North America.
- Last, there's a charity SKATE-A-THON event coming up on Saturday May 31st at Tsawwassen Skate Park in BC, Canada. Every dollar that they raise at the SKATE-A-THON goes towards sponsoring kids coming from orphaned, abusive, and broken homes to go to a 1 week Kidz Kamp in Cultas Lake. Pros, a BBQ, concert and free stuff will all be there to entice you to have a heart and give money to kids!
