Providing free skateboards to the under-privileged

Skateboarding has saved thousands of lives from drugs, gangs, depression, abuse - you name it. I know plenty of you reading this can testify to that. I want to tell you about a way to give a little back, and to help other kids out the same way - the Doogood Conservatory. The Doogood Conservatory is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free skateboards, surfboards and snowboarding packages to the under-privileged youth. Listen to what founder Ari Evan Gold says:
"At risk kids need an outlet. They don't listen, however, they need a mentor and Doogood gives them an opportunity to see if skateboarding, surfing or snowboarding are that silent mentor for them. Board sports give kids an incredible amount of self worth and accomplishment. Boarding keeps them busy, away from the couch, out of gangs and satiated at the end of the day. It gives a lot of these kids a reason to wake up the next day. Don't let them be left out, because their dad is in jail or their mom made some wrong choices."It's easy to give - they take Paypal, and you can get tax credit if you're looking for it. I tried to do that with the kids in my area. I was going to obtain 10 skateboards from a friend who is a seller in DogTown. The kids in turn at first were excited but then became foul mouthed and had negative attitudes. I then gave up on these kids. I now skate by myself. I never bring my boards for them to use anymore. I use to drag three or four boards to the park for them to use.

but life is so hard for me now…

get so expensive… that i even can buy a griptape …
oh… skate was my ”refuge” for years,antistressing …
i wanna sakte again … but … no money…
a wheel here cost 150,00 ”REAIS”(BRAZIL MONEY) Is like 300,00 DOLLARS for you people… and imagine that in my work i receive like 300,00 dollars a month….
so thats it….

I was just wondering if you could hook me up with a free skateboard. i accidently broke my board like 6 years ago and i haven’t had any money to get a new one. neither one of my parents have a job so they cannot get me a new one either. i used to love skateboarding and it was a good way for me to just forget about the stress in life and skate. i really miss that and if i could get a new board that would be great. thanks!

Hi my name is Brandon Housden. I use to be an outsider looking in. I used to see all the skaters at my school do tricks, break the law, etc. I started skateboarding jus to try to be apart of their group. I became really good too. My life was all about skating. Then all about skating and weed. Then, just weed. My life went down the drain fast, and before I knew it, I lost my love of skating. I cleaned my act up and I am proud to say that I have been clean for 8 months straight and I wanna keep it that way. I wanna start skating again but this time do it the right way. The problem is I dont have a board, my parents, are struggling, and its hard to find a job these days. So.. Hi my name is Ben and im twenty years old. I dont know if you read these comments or not but here my story. I’ve been skating for about four years and a half. Ever since I picked up my first board Ive loved it, it became truley one of my greatest passions along with art and poetry. I remember starting off with simple tricks like pop-shovits and old school tricks. As a couple years went by I advanced into no comply three sixty flips, pop shovit indies, many different tricks. One summer I found my self without a board no funds no board. You know? One day I was at the local skatepark with a few buddies, I was using brads board. He asked for it back, but i was getting close to landing a fingerflip into a tail slide when I shattered my elbow and recieved several fractures on my rist. I had to recieve surgery and was off a board for months at end. That was year ago. Today Im ready for a new start, over came myt past inflictions of my hard crash. okay I know you get this all the time. Kids askng for free stuff. My life has been incomplete without skating. I need a board, well a whole set up. Really at this moment I wouldnt mind if someone just threw this junky board falling to peices from thrashing, Id skate it. I dont want to ask you for a free set up exactly but, well that is what im asking. Anything that rides…deeply yours

It would be great to have a real skateboard but my mom says no because we are going through tough times and she does not have enough money.

hey im taylor and skateboarding is who iam but my family is not that well off and have no money to provide for it iv almost lost my hobbie and it make me sad and its all i want right now
I have had the same skateboard for about 4 years and there’s major pressure cracks and its water logged. And right now my mom can’t get me a new one because she doesn’t have a job so its hard for her and she knows I like to skateboard everyday. If you could help I would be very grateful. Thanks.
I am so stoked so many kids have a desire to skate. Having that desire will give you insight on how to attain your future board. You can do and will anything by thanking the universe for the item and truly believing you have it.
I am so sorry to say that Doogood cannot handle individual requests. But we do have 20 programs in california, texas, florida, ohio, idaho, thailand, brazil, jamaica and egypt.
Please ask the skateboard brands to donate to Doogood so we can help more skaters.

That is a giant solid for skateboarding and all respects given for helping out the kids. I am in the process of doing the same thing here in Denver. Im calling it the Merrion Project and the beginning stages are being planned as we speak!

I was wondering if i could get in on this bc I my Element Board was stolen from me at a nameless skate park, and my cousin let me use this blind board but i landed a hardflip wrong and it snapped. If yall cant hook me up no worries, but please do
i can tre flip and do a 7 stair ive been skating for about 10 months im really good people say for how long ive been skating but i need a board i just snapped mine and it really sucks alot and i dont ahve the money im only 13 not 16 yet so i cant get a job so yeah i would really appreiciate it
