EA SKATE Ships on the 12th!

Monday September 10, 2007
EA Skate Game LogoEA SKATE is a huge deal - not only is it finally something to compete with the Tony Hawk games, but it takes skateboarding video games in a whole new direction with its realistic angle and attempts at creating something truly new with the flickit controls. Plus, it looks incredible - take a look at the EA Skate gallery.

And, if you haven't done it yet, you should hop onto Xbox Live and download the free demo. It'll give you a good taste of the game. It's harder than the Tony Hawk games - the controls are subtle and easy to mess up. But, they are also a lot more intuitive, and the skateboarding looks and feels a lot more realistic. Except for how strangely easy it is to do a backflip ... that part is weird. Hopefully they fixed that!

When asked how the game EA Skate relates to skateboarding, Terry Kennedy (one of the pros in the game) said, "I never played video games in my life, but the second I played SKATE, I went out and bought a PS3 and now I’m just waiting. I think it might make people actually want to go out and start skating, I think it can motivate, it motivated me to get out there that day and do what I do. If you are a skater you’ll be influenced."

Take a look at the EA SKATE photo gallery, and in two days get the game! Then come back here and leave a comment, and tell everyone what you think of it!

This game is going to be a blast. I never understood why tony Hawk games had me doing all these stupid things like driving a lawn mower, and climbing hotels.

I buy a skating game so when it’s raining I can Skate!

Finally a game where a triple kick flip down a flight of stairs is amazing.

I just hope it doesn’t get knocked for this aspect. ESPN X-Games snowboarding was a very realistic game (not as innovative though) but no one played it…
