Find an Amateur Skate Competition

Friday March 30, 2007
I get a fair amount of e-mail from people looking for amateur skateboarding competitions they can compete in - with summer coming, now's the time to get your ducks in a row (I hear that if you own ducks, that makes more sense...)

There are several levels to being an amateur skateboarder. Official "Ams" are skaters who have sponsors, but aren't yet recognized by any of these sponsors as "Pro" (read What Makes a Pro Skater a Pro? to find out more about that weird cycle).

If you are a sponsored Am, you probably have some ideas for where to go, but if you have some smaller local sponsors, or if you have no sponsors at all, finding the right skate competition for you can be tricky. Where should you look? Check out this Skateboarding FAQ entry, "How do I Find Amateur Skateboarding Competitions?" to get on the right track. Do you know of some other great beginner skater competitions to suggest? Drop a comment here and tell the world!

I want to learn what it takes to create a small town skateboarding competition….all advice is welcomed! Our skaters need a better park built or at least more community awareness of the talent involved in skating!
