Japanese Skateboarding Scene - in English!

Monday December 18, 2006
No Skateboarding - Japanese sign from in front of Fukushima City Train StationI wrote an article a while back called Skating in Japan, about my experiences while in the country. The article pops up from time to time, and people write and ask me more about it, or want help finding good skate spots in Japan, or contacts with Japanese skaters. For the most part, this is hard to do - the Japanese skateboarding scene is a little young still, and all the Japanese skateboarding sites are in Japanese. Weird how that works. But, for everyone out there who doesn't read Japanese (as in, everyone on the planet except Japanese people, and you crazy types), Japanese skater Koji Asada has kicked off a great new Japanese skateboarding site called j-skateboard.com. They've got some news, articles, and help for finding skate parks, all in Japan! A lot of the site is in Japanese, but the skateparks area and some of the interviews are in full blown Queen's English.
