Burnin' up the Vert Ramp at X Games 11
Saturday August 6, 2005
Saturday - Another sweet day here at X-Games 11, this time is was all vert ramp action. First the Women's Vert Finals, where these girls proved once again that they can skate far better than you, me, or 99.99% of the rest of the planet! Cara-Beth Burnside ripped it up hard and took home gold. Lyn-Z Hawkins threw down some great moves, enough to earn silver, even though she has staples in her head and her arm in a cast. Seriously. These girls have heart, and they're crazy. (Read More). After the women came the Men's Vert Best Trick Finals. This was incredible to watch - my throat still hurts from yelling! Crowd favorite Shaun White pushed time and time again to land the legendary 1080, but never landed it. All the guys pushed hard, but Bob Burnquist took gold with his Frontside 540 Nar-Jar - at least that's the name the announcer gave it! (Read More). Today was another sweet day at X-Games 11, with all this, plus the Dead Kennedys playing, the Power Rangers showing up (?!), and Mega Ramp qualifiers. But that's for tomorrow...
