Saturday September 18, 2004
CLEVELAND, OH - Experience trumped youth in the Gravity Games inaugural women’s skateboard street competition today. Elissa Steamer, at 29 years old and more than twice as old as some of her competitors, grinded out the victory. Outdoor Life Network, owner of the Gravity Games, will air 17 hours of coverage of the event from September 20-25th. “When I first got here today I didn’t think I would do as well as I did. I felt kind of flat in practice, felt bad on my first run but it all came together on my second run,” said Steamer. “I’m really stoked. It’s an awesome feeling. I’m really, really happy.” Lauren Perkins took silver and Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins won bronze.
